Paul Scholes Stretford End banner

Not many Manchester United legends get the chance to be honored on the front of The Stretford End and when Paul Scholes announced his retirement from the game in 2011 many though it would be to late. Stretford End Flags paid tribute to Paul by creating the GENIUS mosaic for his testimonial last August. However a shock announcement in January 2012 saw Paul Scholes return to Manchester United.

As the season fast approaches, we have sought ideas for a new Stretford End banner and Manchester United fans have stated a preference for a banner paying tribute to our Ginger Genius. Fans have worked together to create 2 designs that we hope will be a fitting tribute. The two designs are both inspired by The Stone Roses, a group who also made a triumphant return in 2012.

The 2 designs can be seen below and you can vote for which banner you would like made, by registering on the SEF FORUM and voting on the free poll. The winning banner will then be made for The Stretford End and we hope to have this in place for the 2nd home game of the season against Wigan. Voting will close on Friday 17th August.

New Season banners & new design ideas sought

As the season fast aproaches, we are seeking the views from Manchester United fans, as to what banners we place on The Stretford End for the start of the season. We now have more banners than actual space on the front of the stand and ensuring we can get the maximum number of banners up, always means that certain combinations cannot all be used. We are hopeful that we may be able to display some of the other banners on other tiers within Old Trafford.

This picture shows how some of the banners best fit onto the Stretford End

We are also seeking design ideas for a new Stretford End banner, perhaps honouring a playing legend or the clubs history and tradition. The maximum height of the banners is 1.2 metres, so please ensure any design will work within that sizing. Design ideas can be emailed to JLIB_HTML_CLOAKING or submitted via the SEF Forum, on the SEF FACEBOOK page or via Twitter @sef_mufc

SEF now on Twitter @SEF_MUFC

Stretford End Flags have now launched a Twitter account, please follow @SEF_MUFC

We will use Twitter and our Facebook Page (Hit the page "like" button to follow) to reach a wider range of United fans, as we seek ideas for new banners, TIFO's and mosaics. Our aim is not just to provide banners for The Stretford End, but to improve the atmosphere and colour within the whole of Old Trafford. We welcome ideas and designs from all Manchester United fans.

SEF have a copy of Manchester United Season Review 2011/12 to giveaway.

All the games and all the goals and exclusive interviews from another thrilling season.

For the first time since the late 1960s, Manchester emerged as the capital of English football in 2011/12, as 19-times champions United were confronted by local rivals City in a local skirmish which spilled over into a battle for the Barclays Premier League title. Sir Alex Ferguson had seen off all challengers in the Premier League era, but he celebrated his 25th year at the Old Trafford helm with one of his sternest challenges yet: battling not only the inflated riches and ambition of City, but also overhauling his own squad and blooding a new generation of youngsters. United's twinkling talents dazzled in the early months of the campaign, but were slowed by a damaging home defeat to City and a crippling run of injuries. There were also harsh lessons in European and domestic cup competitions, but the Reds roared back in time-honoured fashion to sprint for the line in an absorbing race for the league title.

With highlights, exclusive interviews and analysis, the MANCHESTER UNITED 2011/12 SEASON REVIEW will take you through every twist and turn of a typically undulating season following the Reds. From the early-season swagger to the breathless late charge for glory, via every peak and trough in between, there is no better way to relive another thrilling campaign.

The Manchester United Season review 2011/12 is NOW available to buy from the Manchester United Megastore (Online via manutd.com) and other leading retailers.

Scoreboard Paddock Singing Section on hold until 2013/14 season

Stretford End Flags is disappointed that due to a delay in satisfying the requirements of the evaluation of the movement of away fans from the SE quadrant to Tier 3 of the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand, it is not possible to implement the proposed Scoreboard Paddock singing section for the 2012/13 season.

Manchester United has been asked for some further detailed analysis to allow them to form a definitive view on the proposals. Unfortunately there is not the time for the Club to do that work, conduct a ST renewal process, submit the proposals for approval and potentially implement the section for the start of next season.

Work has already begun to address the issues raised and the Club hopes to be in a position to make a further announcement at the start of next season.

The Club will keep dialogue going with Stretford End Flags and the other groups involved in this proposal and thanks the fans for their patience. SEF and other groups will now work to esnure that the singing section is in place for the start of the 2013/14 season and that we have the maximum publicity involved in making this a success.
