A proposal to MUFC for an Old Trafford Singing Section
Background
Over several seasons it has been a hot topic for discussion throughout Manchester United Fanzines and on supporter’s internet forums that the atmosphere at Old Trafford is in serious decline, with many citing the Ajax home game as the worst ever Old Trafford home fans atmosphere.
Supporters have lead calls for a designated singing section to be implemented within Old Trafford. Many Manchester United supporters are citing the decline in the atmosphere as one of the main reasons why they have given up attending Old Trafford or as a reason why they will not be renewing their season ticket next summer.
This proposal has the backing of supporters groups Stretford End Flags and MUST, as well as Manchester United Fanzines Rednews and United We Stand and supporter information blog Redsaway.com. Manchester United supporter Pete Boyle has also added his support to this proposal and has canvassed opinion amongst Manchester United Supporters.
Old Trafford singing section proposal - UPDATE
Stretford End Flags has been working in conjunction with other Manchester United supporters Groups and Fanzines to outline a proposal for a singing section within Old Trafford. SEF have been working with Rednews, MUST, Redsaway, United We Stand and Pete Boyle. All of these people have had an input into the proposal for a singing section to be established in East Lower. We hope to gain the support of all Manchester United Supporters groups/fanzines and to submit the proposal to Manchester United this week, ahead of next weeks Fans Forum. As soon as we have more news and the proposal has been submitted, we will update you.

The Flowers of Manchester
The Flowers of Manchester

As has now become tradition, the singing of "The Flowers of Manchester" takes place before the nearest home game to the 6th February.
Prior to Tuesdays home game with Stoke City, Pete Martin from the Salford based folk group 'Hanky Park' will commence the singing at 7pm under the Munich plaque.
Supporters are encouraged to attend and to join in with the singing.
The words to "The Flowers of Manchester" can be found at http://munich58.co.uk/the-flowers-of-manchester/ and they can be downloaded and printed off.
Whilst copies of the song will be handed out on the night, these are limited in number and we ask, if possible that supporters also print out one or two copies that can be shared with fellow supporters.
Pete Martin will also be leading the singing of "The Flowers of Manchester" underneath the Munich Plaque on February 6th at 3pm and again supporters are encouraged to attend.
The Munich plaque can be located on the corner of the East Stand, as you approach the Munich tunnel and the South Stand.

Paul Scholes returns - Possible SEF banner?
Paul Scholes has made a dramatic return to Manchester United and several supporters have asked if we would make a Paul Scholes banner? SEF never got the chance to make a banner for Scholes, yet we did provide a mosaic for his testimonial game last August. to join in the debate or to submit your banner design idea, then visit the SEF Flag Forum here.

The Sir Alex 25 year banner will be taken down in time for this weekends Bolton game and the other Stretford End banners will be back on the stand. We hope to use the Sir Alex banner at other times during the season.
